NEWARK, N.J., July 17 (Nationwide Times) — Panasonic is recalling more than 13,000 electric toaster ovens in the United States and Canada after federal regulators said a cord insulation defect could create a shock or fire hazard.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the recall covers Panasonic model NB-G200 toaster ovens, including units sold online at Amazon.com, Costco.com, Panasonic.com and other platforms nationwide from October 2024 through April 2026 for about $170 each. The agency said about 11,480 units were sold in the U.S. and about 2,184 in Canada.

The recalled ovens are stainless steel, have the Panasonic name on the front and a temperature knob on the bottom. Panasonic said in the recall notice that the protective fiberglass sleeve may not fully cover the power cord, leaving insufficient insulation.

The CPSC said there have been four consumer reports of tripped circuit breakers or outlets and one report that the product stopped working. No fires or injuries have been reported.

Panasonic Corporation of North America told Costco members in a recall letter that some buyers purchased Item #2024930 between February 2026 and April 2026. The company said affected customers can return the product to Panasonic for a refund or bring it to a Costco Warehouse Customer Service Window for a full refund.
