NAPA, Calif., July 5 (Sonoma Times) — Napa County sheriff’s deputies referred a hit-and-run case involving Paul Pelosi, 86, to prosecutors after they said he struck a legally parked car in Yountville and drove away, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies responded July 3 at about 2:30 p.m. to the 6700 block of Yount Street, the sheriff’s office said. Authorities said no injuries were reported.

The sheriff’s office said a preliminary alcohol screening test returned a 0.00 reading, and deputies ruled out driving under the influence. The office also said it was common not to make an arrest for this type of misdemeanor offense under California Penal Code 853.6.

The case was referred to the Napa County District Attorney’s Office for review, and the sheriff’s office said it would also send a referral to the California Department of Motor Vehicles for a re-evaluation.

The new case comes four years after the Napa County District Attorney’s Office filed misdemeanor DUI-with-injury charges against Pelosi over a May 28, 2022 crash in the county. In that case, prosecutors said a blood sample showed a .082% blood alcohol content and said Pelosi was to appear for arraignment in Napa County Superior Court on Aug. 3, 2022.
